I have always wondered what this building is as I've only passed it twice a day every day for at least 15 years... and wondered why no one has torn it down....now I know! I love the interior shots! (did you really go inside it???)
and I love the one with the torn awning..and I'd love to have that cool relief of the cherubs(?) from side of the building.. I am obsessed with what was.....esp. old hotels that are now other things like the student union at Pitt and the apts at Webster Hall....I always want to know what they looked like esp inside, in their heyday.... I still can't fathom how things once so beautiful, or so important, come to such an end..(as the P &L in wilkinsburg).I keep a running list of these sad places and buildings in my mind..( mansions in particular on 5th, now condos with hideous cement- infused additions... the huge green hillside on 5th once part of chatam ...that I used to love riding by as a kid, and imagining sledding down right into 5th ave traffic!...(.now condos).....most of the gorgeous victorians in wilkinsburg...(now vacant and destroyed).. the building on Penn in Garfield that says Lackzoom Acidophilus with carved stone figures on it...(has this been restored yet? I can't remember) .and the list goes on.......just another reason I love and hate the movies "things that aren't there any more"......there are so many cool things in your shots....such a unique point of view!! don't stop!

Thanks, Brian. I'm very intrigued by the Lyndhurst estate, but The only Lyndhurst shots I have seen are in various books about Pittsburgh, and I haven't seen that many. I'm always on the lookout for others. There are a few on line, I think.
